Protecting Roads. Powering Intelligent Transport.
MassWIM Weigh-In-Motion
MassWIM, Developed in partnership with CROSS, our official Weigh-In-Motion software provider, is a modular vehile weighing and traffic monitoring solution designed to accurately weigh vehicles in motion while collecting valuable traffic data. By enabling continuous monitoring and assessment of vehicle movements, MassWIM helps extend the lifespan of road infrastructure, minimise damage caused by overloaded vehicles, and contribute o safer, more efficient road networks.

MassWIM
MassWIM enables vehicles to be weighed and traffic data to be collected and analysed without interruping the flow of traffic. By accurately identifying overloaded vehicles and monitoring traffic conditions, the system helps protec road infrastructure from unnecessary damage while contribuing to safer, more efficient transport networks.
Case Study
The World's Largest Weigh-In-Motion Test Site
The SANRAL Proof of Concept (PoC) project is home to the world’s largest Weigh-In-Moion (WIM) test site, established to evaluate direct enforcement technologies that protect road infrastructure by identifying overloaded vehicles without disrupting traffic flow. Masskot Scale, in partnership with CROSS, is proud o have our Weigh-IN-Motion solution installed and evaluated near the Mantsole Traffic Control Centre on the Bakwena N1N4 toll routes, contributing to one of the world’s most significant inelligent transport initiatives.
The project brings together multiple Weigh-in-Motion technologies under teal-world operating conditions to evaluate their performance, accuracy and suitability for future direct enforcement applications across South Africa. By capturing precise vehicle, axle load, speed, and classification data in real time, the system supports more effective overload detection while maintaining uninterrupted traffic flow. The Insights gained from this initiative will help shape the future of intelligent transport systems, strengthen road preservation strategies, improve road safety through data-driven enforcement, and support the wider adoption of Weigh-in-Motion technology across South Africa.
